We are very pleased to say we have become the first coach operator to achieve CPT’s new and professionally-recognised Workshop Accreditation.
The Accreditation, designed and launched in 2014 by CPT’s Engineering Committee with support from the Traffic Commissioners, assesses bus and coach operators’ workshops, against a series of in-depth engineering compliance and health & safety based procedures.
The certificate was presented to us by CPT President, Bill Hiron who said:
“It gives me great pleasure to present Golden Boy Coaches with CPT’s Workshop Accreditation – the only industry specific Accreditation that recognises the professional standards available to maintenance providers and ATF’s (Approved Testing Facilities).
“Golden Boy Coaches are currently the only coach operator to hold the status, and it clearly demonstrates the importance they place on ensuring the highest levels of safety and compliance for both staff and passengers. I offer my congratulations to the small team here who have worked tirelessly and meticulously over the years to ensure that Golden Boy Coaches is worth of this industry status. And they certainly are.”
All of our drivers have taken part in a cycle workshop as part of their on going Driver CPC training.
The workshop is aimed at all drivers of large vehicles who operate in, or pass through, urban areas. It is designed to promote the safety and sharing of roads with vulnerable road users in London with a particular focus on cyclists.
The workshop was run by a company called Cycle Confident and involved a 3 hour classroom session followed by a 3 hour practical session when the drivers took to their bikes to put their skills into practice.
This vehicle is our first ever Irizar i6 with a DAF engine and was supplied to us by Irizar UK.
It has been named as a tribute to Terry Senior who passed away in February 2014. Terry was a former managing director at Golden Boy Coaches and had a huge influence on everybody that worked with him. He retired way back in 2004 but still travelled in to the depot each day to pass on his words of wisdom and of course his many stories.
The Irizar i6 is a versatile high-end coach ideal for everyday hire and touring services. It stands out because of its features, design, aerodynamics, attention to details and comfort. Driving it is a special experience, and travelling in it is a true pleasure.
Master Liam is our new 33 seater executive coach. It is a touring coach made by Unvi and supplied to us by Taylor PCV.
On board features include 3 tables with reclining leather seats, WC’s, hot drinks machine, a fridge and a DVD player with drop down LCD screens.
Although this vehicle is half the size of our large coaches it still has a ‘big coach feel’. This would be ideal for a UK or European tour or maybe a special day when you require the extra executive features.
Golden Boy Coaches very recently had an audit of verification and has been awarded CoachMarque status. A status that only another 43 coach operators in the UK qualify for.
CoachMarque is the only universally recognised kite mark of quality in the UK coach industry. It is concerned with all aspects of the business and not just the coach itself. All CoachMarque companies operate to a strict set of criteria and are regularly assessed by an independent third party to ensure compliance with the highest standards of operation.
Golden Boy Coaches has recently been announced as one of the 44 contractors from all over the UK and Ireland which will be transporting athletes, team officials and the media during the London 2012 Games.
To be considered for the task we had to go through a long and competitive tender process which started back in 2009. We wanted to take part as London is so close to us and the London 2012 Games will be a once in a lifetime opportunity that we do not want to miss. We have already allocated a number of coaches for the games and look forward to a busy year ahead.
We are delighted to announce that our driver Colin Morton has won the coveted title of “Coach Driver of the Year”. This award is presented to the coach driver who has best demonstrated excellent performance from the customer perspective in the 12 month period to the end of December 2010.
To win the title of Coach Driver of the Year, nominees need to go that extra mile to provide the customer’s ideal: a driver who is friendly, helpful, conscientious and mindful of passengers’ comfort and well being – in short, a true professional and worthy ambassador for the job.
Colin has over 30 years experience with us and his professionalism, driving skill and friendliness means that he is the preferred driver for numerous clients. His knowledge and experience is legendary and, as an excellent ambassador for the company Colin has appeared regularly at the UK Coach Rally and is entrusted with Golden Boy’s flagship Van Hool Astronef coach.
